Abstract

By assessing awareness and the application of ethical approaches within the framework of SDGs, educators can cultivate a holistic view of design as a powerful tool for addressing global challenges. We propose an assessment tool comprising competencies linked to SDGs, criteria, and indicators, to be systematically and progressively applied in Problem-Based Learning environments across schools of design, architecture, and building disciplines. Through a review of current literature and analysis of over 900 Problem-Based Learning outcomes, we propose a systematic incorporation of SDGs into teaching and evaluation of higher education outcomes in a way that is deeply interlinked with professional skills.
