Aplicación de Herramientas de Calidad para Reducir Costos del Área de Mantenimiento de Transporte en una Empresa Avícola, Trujillo 2024

The research aimed to implement quality tools in the transportation maintenance area of a poultry company in Trujillo, Peru, to reduce operating costs. The study utilized both quantitative and qualitative approaches, with a diagnostic and proactive focus. A thorough analysis of the company’s current state was conducted using quality tools such as the Ishikawa Diagram and Pareto Diagram to identify the root causes of losses, which included lack of communication with the logistics department, poor quality control in spare parts procurement, insufficient spare parts inventory, and inadequate driver training in preventive and corrective maintenance. To propose solutions, engineering methodologies such as the House of Quality (QFD), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and DMAIC-Six Sigma were applied, optimizing operational processes and ensuring vehicle availability. As a result, annual losses were reduced by S/. 1,149,748.00, along with improvements in Cpk and Z-Level values for each indicator. The economic and financial evaluation revealed a Net Present Value (NPV) of S/. 3,997,565.62, an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 87.58%, a Payback Period (PBP) of 2.4 years and a ratio Benefit/Cost of 3, concluding that the proposal is viable for improving the company's profitability.
