N2 - Mining is an industry that generates many benefits for society and this is no stranger to the use of technological tools. Being a large and competitive industry, the training of professionals related to this sector must be adequate. Therefore, the objective of the present investigation was to determine the effect of a mobile application in the recognition of minerals by their physical properties for mining engineering and geology students. For the development of the mobile application, the Open Up framework was obtained. The research was of an applied type and of a pre-experimental design of pretest and posttest. We worked with a sample of 132 students. And the survey was extracted as a technique and as an instrument the questionnaire, validated by experts and with an acceptable reliability by Cronbach's alpha = 0.89. Finally, it was concluded that the mobile application had a positive effect on the recognition of minerals by their physical properties for mining engineering and geology students.
