N2 - Las Vizcachas deposit is located on the hill of the same name in the north of La Libertad department, where metallic mineralization was observed in carbonate rocks related to igneous activity. The present work aims to relate the petrographic-mineralogical characteristics with the classification of the deposit and understand its formation process, for this, 3 study zones were defined, collecting samples with geological observation criteria, these samples were sent to the optical microscopy laboratory for their petrographic-mineralogical characterization; in zone 1, 4 samples were collected characterized as garnet skarn retrograded to sphalerite, oxides, carbonates and sphalerite, skarnized marble, spotted slate. In zone 2, 3 samples were collected, characterized as garnet and pyroxene skarn retrograded to amphiboles, bornite, carbonates and quartz. In zone 3, a sample characterized by skarn of magnetite and garnets retrograded to amphiboles was obtained. In addition, samples of 2 intrusives characterized as granodioritic porphyry and syenogranite were obtained. These being the ones that metamorphized the carbonate rocks, generating skarnized levels, where the paragenesis of prograde alteration (garnets, magnetite, pyroxenes) and retrograde alteration (amphibole, vesuvianite, carbonates, quartz) was recognized, the latter with metallic mineralization of copper, lead, zinc and iron sulphides.
