N2 - Wind and photovoltaic energy are the most used sources of renewable energy due to their cleanliness, inexhaustibility, and suitability for agricultural applications. This project focuses on the needs of rural areas in Peru where the lack of conventional electrical power and water for irrigation is a concern. Therefore, the objective of this study is to select the most efficient renewable energy source for pumping systems in agricultural applications. We focus on the Sihuas area, located in the Ancash region, and evaluate both wind and photovoltaic energy through testing and comparison of results. The results show that both options are viable, but the photovoltaic source is more cost-effective and efficient, making it the most suitable option for water pumping in agriculture. Consequently, the use of this type of system is recommended for pumping applications in agriculture.
