N2 - The objective of this research is to design a biofilter with Caesalpinia spinosa mucilage to reduce the turbidity of the surface waters of the Pollo River, province of Otuzco, La Libertad region. Studies were analyzed where data related to the parameter of turbidity, color, pH, suspended solids, BOD and COD were extracted from water from different rivers, which were treated with natural coagulants from different plant species. In the proposed methodology, the economic and sustainable aspects were considered, the total cost and the viability of its use, the installation of the biofilter, the training for its domestic use, and finally the quantity and quality obtained from treated water. As a result, a viable and economical 3D biofilter design was created, consisting of a main treatment tank with a DC motor, a treated water reserve tank and filter meshes. Concluding with the investigation, the physicochemical parameters of the Pollo river micro-basin were diagnosed and a biofilter design with natural coagulant was created to treat the existing problem.
