Abstract
The following article shows a purposeful research whose purpose was to show the feasibility of designing a basic monitoring and control system for the management of institutional projects in a microfinance institution in the city of Trujillo based on the earned value technique. Work was carried out taking as a reference the projects of the Institutional Operational Plan of the entity and analyzing one that met the established selection criteria. Likewise, the information collected was entered into the MS Excel software of the Office 365 suite and from this, results were obtained that showed pronounced or almost sustained delays during the execution of the project schedule (average SPI of 0.93) and, in addition, the project you are spending more than you have earned (average CPI of 0.95). These results, despite not being very encouraging, nevertheless make it possible to highlight the importance of having a monitoring and control system based on the earned value management indicators, since the information obtained here and if it had been available on time, would have made it possible to correct all or most of the deviations presented during the execution of the project, with which at the end of the execution of the project, a better result could have been obtained at a general level.
