Abstract
This article presents the development and evaluation of a mobile application designed to optimize municipal solid waste management in Lima, Peru. The application allows citizens to register requests for the collection of recyclable material and municipal workers to document the type and quantity of waste collected, categorized as paper, plastic and glass. In addition, the system provides detailed statistics on recycled material per user, encouraging active participation in the circular economy. As a methodology, the architecture of the system, its implementation, an implementation model is described and as results present that the level of use of the application is above 80% by registered users in a district, as well as in order of recycled material it can be observed that plastic is the material that has been recycled the most, followed by paper and glass in less quantity. As a recommendation, we present that this management methodology for recycling municipal waste can be scaled to biodegradable products, for which an appropriate collection method must be available.
