N2 - The research aims to establish the relationship between sociodemographic factors and the choice of Civil Engineering as a career at a university in Cajamarca, Peru, in 2023. The approach is quantitative, relying on information collection through statistical analysis. The research type is basic correlational level, studying the relationship between two variables and how they interact. The design is non-experimental cross-sectional, as it is conducted without manipulating variables, and data is only collected in a single time period. The study population consists of 500 students enrolled in the Civil Engineering program at a university in Cajamarca. The sample comprises 112 students selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling, with participants currently enrolled in the civil engineering program and showing willingness and accessibility to participate. The survey is the technique used, and the questionnaire serves as the instrument. The main finding is a significant correlation between sociodemographic factors and the choice of Civil Engineering at the University of Cajamarca. The Spearman correlation coefficient is 0.270 (low positive correlation), with statistical significance at the 0.01 level (bilateral). Thus, the research concludes with the formulation of educational and vocational guidance policies for students starting from secondary education.
