Abstract

This work presents the systematic literature review of the work done by researchers all over the world in the domain of impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the garbage collection problem in recent years. AI has made the lives of humans easy in developing sustainable innovative solutions to optimize existing processes. Sufficient work has been featured in all major digital libraries including Scopus, IEEE Xplore, IOP Science, and ScienceDirect on the impact of AI for the segregation of different types of wastes, optimization in the route planning for garbage collection and usage of autonomous vehicles including their ethical and social challenges. PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) methodology has been used for the systematic selection of the research work, and bibliometric analysis has been performed and visually showcased through the use of VOS Viewer software. Author-wise and country-wise impact measures has also been highlighted in the work.
