N2 - The objective of this research was the reduction of costs related to a Mining-Logging Company in the province of Trujillo, Peru. The first stage was diagnosing the administrative area of the company. The identified causes were: the lack of a precautionary maintenance program; the lack of spare parts’ stock; the lack of operative units which should be ready to meet the client’s requirements; the lack of training when it comes to the operative and technical staff. The indicators of each cause were analysed through statistical control tools and quality management. Tools such as Quality Function Deployment (QFD), with its House of Quality, Failure mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and the DMAIC Methodology Six Sigma were used, in order to reduce costs. The final results of the research were positive – the monetary loss related to the root cause was reduced, and the statistical behavior of the researched indicators was improved. Th Z Level increased in one of the four indicators. The initial loss was $11,937.74 dollars and the better loss was $5,090.00, obtaining a profit of $6,847.74.
