Abstract

The pandemic forced universities to change from face-to-face to virtual mode, modifying the way in which teaching and coordination is managed in educational institutions. The organization of communication in universities is fundamental for teachers to be able to interact, converse and obtain the appropriate information to transfer information to students. The objective of this study is to determine the characteristics of organizational communication through distance work in private and public higher education institutions in times of the Covid 19 pandemic. The methodology used was descriptive, mixed, cross-sectional and non-experimental, the technique used was the survey and the in-depth interview. The results showed that internal organizational communication had sufficient bargaining power, established good working relationships and was timely; on the other hand, there was little dialogue between teachers and authorities, decreased real communication and lack of virtual learning and use of digital tools, lack of training, little performance evaluation, little consideration of opinions and little knowledge to solve problems effectively. It is concluded that universities should implement effective tools to improve communication and maintain perfect cooperation between faculty and administrative staff so that teachers can perform better and achieve their goals.
