N2 - The aim of this article is to analyze the intersections between gender and marital dissolution, a space of conflict that gives rise to economic and/or patrimonial violence, understood as a type of gender violence that persists in contemporary societies. To achieve this goal, the article focuses on three fundamental aspects: 1. Gender violence: Considered a public order problem, it goes beyond sociocultural conditioning and requires specific treatment to guarantee a life free of aggression. 2. Economic and/or patrimonial violence as gender violence: This form of violence involves improper management, appropriation, destruction, or transformation of women’s property and real estate. Its purpose is to control, punish, impoverish, and subjugate the victim. It is a palpable reality in Ibero-American and Latin American scenarios. 3. Economic and/or patrimonial violence as a cause of marital breakdown: This phenomenon necessitates the protection of women and children, safeguarding their integrity. The method used to prepare the work is documentary exploration, supported by information from national and international digital repositories. It is concluded that economic and/ or patrimonial violence is an act of gender violence, which significantly impacts relationships between men and women within society.
