Abstract
The objective of this study was to determine the impact of an improvement proposal based on Preventive Maintenance and Linear Programming on the operational costs of a polypropylene footwear components factory located in Trujillo, 2024. The analyzed company shows significant deficiencies in its production area, particularly due to the lack of maintenance on machinery and the use of inadequate methods for mixing materials for the final product, resulting in monthly economic losses of S/. 8,634. To address this situation, an improvement proposal was designed, consisting of two key elements: a preventive maintenance plan to reduce defective products; and the optimization of input mixtures that affect the final product's quality and reduce profits, addressed through linear programming. Additionally, two support tools were implemented: a procedure manual to standardize critical tasks and reduce errors; and the strengthening of organizational culture through strategies aimed at sustainable change. The results show a 92.77% reduction in monthly operational costs, from S/. 8,634 to S/. 624, highlighting the positive impact of applying integrated engineering tools. This proposal demonstrates that it is possible to improve the efficiency and profitability of manufacturing microenterprises through concrete actions.
