N2 - The company under study is currently experiencing one of its worst periods due to issues in the maintenance area, which result in high operational costs. Therefore, the general aim of this project is to reduce operational costs in the maintenance management of the timber company located in the city of Trujillo. The cause-effect diagram was used as a diagnostic tool, enabling the identification and monetization of the following root causes: first, lack of experience among operators; second, absence of machine measurement; third, lack of preventive maintenance; and fourth, lack of maintenance scheduling. All mentioned causes result in a total current loss of S/129,368.75. Improvement tools utilized include predictive maintenance, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), total productive maintenance (TPM), preventive maintenance, and Six Sigma. Subsequently, the current and improved results of implementing the proposed tools were compared, resulting in a total improved loss of S/25,340.75. Finally, a projected cash flow analysis was conducted, considering investment and operating expenses, resulting in a savings of S/104,028.00 in company losses. Additionally, the proposal was deemed viable, yielding an NPV (net present value) of S/172,534.49, an IRR (internal rate of return) of 91.10%, and a payback period of 2.4 years over a 10-year projection. This is significant given the intense competition in the timber industry.
