Abstract
The aim of this research was to present the approaches in the use of software applications in the diagnosis of chronic diseases in health centers through an analysis of the scientific literature of the last 10 years. The procedures of the PRISM methodology were used for the making of this paper. After an exhaustive search in scientific databases, 24 articles were selected, using as search criteria the previously mentioned period of time and terms such as 'software applications', 'diagnosis', 'chronic diseases' and other related terms. As a result, we obtained that there are various approaches in the use of software applications in the diagnosis of chronic diseases and these can be organized into three categories: support for medical professionals, optimization of resources used in diagnosis and training for new doctors or practitioners. Finally, we conclude that in recent years a large amount of research has been published on the use of software applications in the diagnosis of chronic diseases, which do not try to replace medical professionals, but rather seek to complement their work to make it more efficient and accurate.
