Abstract

The objective of the research is to describe the profile of women engineers qualified as researchers by the National Council of Science, Technology and Technological Innovation (Concytec) of Peru.Based on the review of the National Scientific, Technological and Technological Innovation Registry (Renacyt), 285 female engineers qualified as researchers who are located in the field of engineering and technology are identified. Each profile was reviewed (CTI Vitae File) and the information on the indicators was recorded and analyzed: Renacyt classification level, professional title and postgraduate academic degrees, universities where they obtained their degrees, institution of affiliation, scientific publications and registered patents. The main results show that women represent 14.11% of the total researchers in the field of engineering and technology, they are present in 7 of the 8 classification levels of Renacyt; Their titles mostly belong to process engineering (41.40%) and product or service engineering (37.19%); The most frequent mention of the professional title is Chemical Engineering (13.33%); The most frequent mention of master's degree is Master in Food Technology (9.88%); The most frequent mention of the doctorate is Doctor of Education (8.96%); The universities in which they obtain their undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as their affiliated institutions, are located in various regions of Peru; Finally, the average number of articles published is higher in engineering that occupy the highest levels of the Renacyt classification. It is concluded that women engineers qualified as researchers are underrepresented in Renacyt and this research reveals some of their characteristics.
