Abstract
This research is in charge of describing the use, side effects, and waste management of masks generated by university students during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in Lima in 2022. The essential aspects of the methodology, taken into consideration, are the study approach, since it is of a qualitative-quantitative type which is characterized because it seeks the application of knowledge, it is of an exploratory type since a new hypothesis will be generated and it is transactional.. Likewise, for the present investigation, our sample consisted of 74 students for whom the following inclusion criteria were used: university students from Breña in Peru, for the exclusion criteria students who have virtual classes were considered. In addition, people were surveyed virtually, this will be useful from now on to be able to carry out a massive survey; The instrument used for this research work was the questionnaire, which was validated by three environmental engineers specialized in the matter. Finally, in the results it was evidenced in the highest percentages that 48.6% use the KN95 type filter in their masks, 36.5% correspond to people who use the masks for 2 days, on the other hand we have the students who use the type (model of mask) KN95 and the brand with 44.6% and 80% correspondingly, regarding the side effects we have 81% who present allergies and 73% of the students segregate in another type of container that does not correspond to hazardous waste.
