Resumen
This research evaluates the aerodynamic performance of a Gorlov turbine as an alternative for wind microgeneration in rural areas with limited access to electricity. Using transient CFD simulations, wind speeds of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 m/s were analyzed, revealing a progressive acceleration of the system up to 73 RPM and a direct relationship between flow and performance. Five geometric scales were also assessed at 4 m/s, with Scale 1 standing out for its higher RPM and stability, and Scales 2 and 3 for their balance between efficiency and dynamic behavior. The turbine’s helical geometry demonstrated adaptability to turbulent flows, confirming its technical viability for sustainable rural electrification and resilience to climate change.
