Resumen
Introduction: Anemia during gestation increases the risk of maternal and fetal morbidities, thus timely diagnosis and treatment is important. Objective: To determine the sociodemographic factors associated with the diagnosis and treatment of anemia during pregnancy in Peruvian women. Methods: An observational, cross-sectional, analytical study was conducted based on the 2019 Demographic and Family Health Survey. A total of 18 207 records of women of reproductive age were included. Descriptive analysis was performed with weighted (%) and unweighted (n) values. Chi-square (x2) was used. Results: 87.3 % of the women did not present anemia in their last pregnancy; women with secondary education (46.2 %) and from urban areas (76.3 %) stood out. In the group diagnosed with anemia, 29.9 % were categorized as "very rich and rich" and 97.2 % received iron treatment. Conclusions: Anemia is associated with sociodemographic factors, except for area of residence. Ruling out the disease during pregnancy and the application of appropriate treatment are also associated with these elements.
