Resumen

Burnout represents a significant issue within the Covid-19 healthcare sector, particularly exacerbated by global emergencies such as the pandemic. This study aims to elucidate the main factors contributing to the development of burnout among healthcare workers through a thorough systematic review of the existing literature. By employing a range of keywords including ‘burnout’, ‘healthcare professionals’, and ‘determining factors’, relevant studies were selected that pro-vide a detailed understanding of the variables involved. The findings from this review reveal that the primary determinants of burnout include both individual professional and sociodemographic attributes as well as organizational characteristics of the work environment. Professional and demographic factors are cru-cial, as differences in training, experience, and workload significantly influence susceptibility to burnout. Concurrently, the structure and culture of the organi-zation, including administrative support and human resource policies, are also decisive. The study concludes with an emphasis on the need for more in-depth and longitudinal research covering a variety of roles within the healthcare sec-tor. Additionally, the importance of implementing preventive strategies focused on improving work-life balance, optimizing perceptions of workload, and stren-gthening organizational support is highlighted as essential measures to mitigate the incidence of burnout among healthcare professionals.
