Integrating History and Mythology in Naval Training: A Study of Túpac Yupanqui in 'Gods and Men of Huarochirí'

This research analyzes how the figure of Túpac Yupanqui, presented in the manuscript Gods and men of Huarochir í, enriches the educational training of the cadets of Peruvian Naval Academy. This research highlights the relevance of this character both in this historical dimensión as Sapa Inca, military leader and navigator, and in his mythological dimension, as he is considered the son of the Sun. The combination of history and mythology is used to develop critical, cultural and leadership skills in future naval officers. The study, with a qualitative and exploratory approach, was based on documentary analysis and observation of classes at the Naval Academy. The results show that Túpac Yupanqui's teaching fosters a solid cultural identity and promotes reflection on leadership and discipline. However, challenges were identified related to the overload of the curriculum, which limits the time available to delve deeper into these contents. The research concludes that a deeper integration of history and mythology into the educational plan would contribute to better preparing cadets to face contemporary challenges, while reinforcing their cultural identity and sense of institutional belonging.
