“Justicia es redención”: aprismo y discurso histórico en el bisemanario Justicia de Tacna (Perú 1933-1934)

This article analyzes the Aprista historical discourse presented in the biweekly newspaper “Justicia” published in Tacna, Peru between 1933 and 1934. It examines the political uses of the recent past regarding the memory of the Chilean captivity and post-captivity crisis. It studies the appeals to a heroic memory during the occupation and the articulation of clashing temporalities. It argues that the substitution of the initial messianism for a rhetoric focused on collective action reflects processes of doctrinal re-signification in the face of changes in repressive conditions. The resilience of Tacna’s Aprismo is explained by the persistence of a discourse with a strong territorial anchorage.
