Sustainable entrepreneurship in HEIs. A systematic review from the perspective of higher education in business

Sustainable entrepreneurship is crucial for sustainable development, which is why higher education institutions (HEIs) seek to train entrepreneurs with this vision. However, its conceptualization and application in educational settings are complex. This systematic review, conducted under the sPRISMA 2020guidelines, analyzes and systematizes 112 scientific articles on sustainable entrepreneurship in higher education institutions, with a focus on business literature from Scopus and Web of Science. It is concluded that, despite the theoretical complexity of sustainable entrepreneurship, institutions should focus on fostering both competencies and commitment to the triple bottom line. Moreover, experiential learning emerges as a recurring and valuable teaching method that, although requiring significant efforts for its implementation, can represent an educational improvement. Finally, it is highlighted that institutions must adopt a holistic-collaborative approach and create a favorable ecosystem, recognizing that sustainable entrepreneurship is a complex process that demands minimum conditions to be effective.
