Abstract

In the present study that is part of the thesis published in the repository of the Universidad Privada del Norte whose title is; Efficiency of activated carbon from rice husk as an adsorbent in the removal of heavy metals from industrial effluents, it is shown that currently heavy metals, present in the water, generate negative impacts on sustainable development, this research had a non-experimental transversal approach, selecting research for the object of study comprising four theses and a scientific article referring to the physical and chemical properties of the rice husk, in this investigation it was sought to demonstrate the efficiency of this procedure, exploring studies carried out in the last 10 years obtaining results that its effectiveness varies depending on certain factors, influencing the contact time of the activated carbon to adsorb the metal, and the type of heavy metal to be treated, showing greater adsorption power in cadmium and lead, as well as in other metals on a smaller scale, determined that at higher doses of activated carbon and time the better the porc removal stage, reaching the conclusion that applying this method would have a positive impact to address various environmental problems of heavy metals present in the water.
